IWC combines American pioneering spirit and Swiss expertise

In 1868, at the age of 27, the American Florentine Ariosto Jones founded the International Watch Company, in short IWC, in the Swiss town of Schaffhausen. His goal of producing movements of the highest quality using modern manufacturing methods is still one of the principles of IWC today. With his knowledge of production processes, the expertise of Swiss watchmakers and the water power of the Rhine, Jones succeeded in producing precise digital pocket watches with Pallweber displays. Since then, IWC has developed into a renowned manufacturer of robust watches for everyday use, professional sports watches and fine timepieces of haute horlogerie. In addition, IWC was the first Swiss luxury watch brand to commit itself to sustainable production and regularly reports on this.

Unique IWC models

  • Just like its namesake, the IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar is ready to make history. This masterpiece of haute horlogerie is an impressive and extremely skilful demonstration of what IWC watchmakers are capable of. This mechanical wristwatch displays not only the time, day, month and year, but also the current phase of the moon. A rose gold case and a crocodile leather-look strap complete the overall picture of this fascinating timepiece.

  • The IWC Portofino celebrates the dolce vita of the Italian coastal city of the same name. The Portofino is an elegant watch that could hardly be more appropriate for a life without worries in this picturesque town in the heart of Liguria. IWC is thus meeting the demand for timeless and classic watches, creating a timepiece that will bring pleasure to its wearers for generations to come.

  • Sporty, more sporty, Aquatimer. There are few more versatile models in the world of haute horlogerie than the IWC Aquatimer. Waterproof and made from materials that are as functional as possible, the Aquatimer is a fantastic companion for all outdoor activities. Waterproof with automatic movements and either as a chronograph or as a classic three-hand with date display: The Aquatimer plays in a league of its own.

  • Not only for pilots: The IWC Big Pilots This pilot's watch is the archetype of an observation watch. With its large, easy-grip crown, automatic movement, date window, power reserve display and clear dial, this timepiece makes an extremely functional design statement. In addition, the Big Pilots, with its case diameter of 46 mm, is ideal for wearers with strong wrists.

  • The IWC Portuguese is one of the most popular and well-known models of the International Watch Company. Legend has it that two Portuguese merchants asked IWC at the time for particularly large wristwatches that would make it easier to read at sea. This was to mark the beginning of the IWC Portuguese. Today, series such as the Portuguese Classic, the Portuguese Automatic and the IWC Portuguese Chronograph are part of the Portuguese family's permanent range.
