The story of the collection
Cartier has always been considered an exquisite luxury jewellery brand. Founded in 1847 by
Louis-François Cartier, the small jewellery studio was initially the purveyor to the court of the Empress of France and other royal families. In the watch market, Cartier was initially active mainly in the production of pocket watches – wristwatches were not very popular in the 19th century. But since 1888, the renowned jewellery house also began to build a separate division: the first wristwatches of the brand appeared. At first, these were reserved primarily for the women's world. With the pilot's watch Santos and the classic Cartier Tank then also achieved the breakthrough in the men's world.
Since then, Cartier has been launching one hit after another: From various tank variants, such as the Solo or the Française, to the latest creation: the
Cartier Ballon Bleu. This skilfully took up the characteristic features of the brand and transformed it into an
innovative design. At any rate, it has become an indispensable part of Cartier's repertoire since then.
Famous Ballon Bleu wearers
Cartier watches have always been extremely popular with stars and starlets. Whether Andy Warhol and Lady Diana with a Tank Française, Tom Cruise with a Santos or Pierce Brosnan with the Panthère – the series of the luxury brand have all their fans.
Although still so young, the
Ballon Bleu can already be proud of a large audience. It is equally popular with Royals like Kate Middleton and acting icons like Julia Roberts and Johnny Depp. Even superstar Usher was spotted with a
Cartier Ballon Bleu on the wrist. The iconic watch could even celebrate am iconic debut: In the mystery thriller "Devil", leading actress Bojana Novakovic wears a model in gold on her wrist.
