In the company history of Breitling the young watchmaker Léon Breitling, with his passion for microchronometer, plays an important role. At the young age of 24 he already was visionary enough to develop his first chronograph in 1884. This year is therefore also attributed to the founding of the company. Through the love of watchmaking and the desire to develop even more precise chronographs, the Breitling models quickly became popular. The company initially focused primarily on the production of high-quality pocket chronographs. When Leon's son Gaston Breitling took over the company in 1914, he brought his interest in aviation into the development of new watches. One year later he developed the first wrist chronograph with a 30 second short time measurement and a central second hand. Especially for military purposes, the watches of Breitling were used with pleasure because of their sturdiness and accuracy. The specialization in chronographs was deepened more and more, so in 1923 a watch with a chronograph pusher was launched. A revolution, as one could, on earlier models, only manually set the short-time measurement with the help of the elevator crown!

In 1932, the grandson of the founder, Willy Breitling, took over the company and brought further success with innovative entrepreneurial spirit. In 1934, the Breitling chronographs got a second chronograph pusher and set themselves even more strongly apart from all competitors. The watcher were so precise that more than 30 airlines and the Royal Air-force installed the chronographs. But as the winged anchor, the logo of the brand, already suggests, Breitling is not only closely rooted in aviation, but also in water sports. After the chronographs were so popular in aviation, Breitling launched in 1957 the Superocean, the company's first divers watch. Even the earliest models were able to withstand water depths of up to 100m. With this series Breitling proved definitively that the watches of the brand correspond to the highest quality standards and are absolute luxury goods. The timepieces are equally popular with hobby collectors and professionals. In 1995 the up to a stunning 1500m waterproof Breitling Colt Superocean professional watch was released.

To symbolize the attachment to the maritime world and the passion for luxurious chronographs, the Breitling SuperOcean Chronograph was designed. The watch is waterproof and pressure resistant up to 500m and was originally designed for professional use. The particularly robust design, made of stainless steel, makes the chronograph particularly resistant, while at the same time it is very suitable for everyday use due to its classic yet elegant design.

Breitling SuperOcean Chronograph - Top features and models

The Breitling SuperOcean was designed to prevent missing out the precise short-term measurements during a dive. Different designs are leaving room for personal preferences. Thus, the color of the dial and the bezel varies, the series offers both plain black and white as well as individual models with gold and blue accents. The SuperOcean Chronograph Ref. A13340 looks very sturdy and resistant right off the bat: Case, strap bezel and crown are made of stainless steel. The watch withstands a water pressure of whopping 50bar and is perfect for any diving adventure. With the countdown markings on the bezel, the time of a dive can be precisely measured and tracked. For the safety of the diver, the bezel can only be turned in one direction, so that the time, when accidentally adjusted, can only become less. On six, nine and twelve o'clock the watch is equipped with sub-dials for the chronograph function. In addition, there is a date display with weekdays at three o'clock.

Inside the watch is the automatic movement Breitling Caliber 13, which is based on the ETA 7750 - a caliber that is known for its accuracy and non sensitivity. The SuperOcean Chronograph´s movement ticks at 28,800 beats per hour and has a power reserve of up to 42 hours. The SuperOcean Chronograph Ref. A13311D1.C971.223X.A18BA.1, on the other hand, is a rather elegant model that can be worn well in everyday life. The bezel and dial are made of in a uniform color, turning the watch from a functional timepiece into a stylish piece of jewelry. It is waterproof up to 200m and also has three totalizers for the chronograph function. Also equipped with the in-house caliber 13, it also runs with high precision.

The Breitling Superocean Heritage 42 A1732116.C832.154A is a classic three-hand watch with date display at three o'clock. It is waterproof up to 200m, very sturdy but not chunky due to its stainless steel case with sapphire crystal. The Breitling SuperOcean Heritage combines new technology and a classic design. This prestigious series was developed to mark the 50th anniversary of the brand. It is to commemorate this reference is the original model of the Superocean, 10 years later, the watch was revised and the Superocean Heritage II was launched. The Breitling Superocean Chronograph 2000m A73310A8.BB75.234X.A20BA.1 is, as its name implies, a sister of the SuperOcean Chronograph, which is suitable for up to 2000 m of submersion. The bezel is very similar to the SuperOcean II A17364, thanks to the modern font of its numerals. But the dial has a very individual design. The three totalizers at 2, 6 and 10 o'clock are very different than at it´s little sister. The impressive size of 46 mm makes the chronograph conspicuous.

The Breitling Colt Chronograph was originally developed for military use and brings Breitling´s very typical design with four striking riders on the bezel.
The Breitlings Avenger series also belongs to the family of divers watches. In 2013, the revised model series Avenger II was presented in Basel. This now consists of 4 outstanding models, including the Avenger Seawolf, which is waterproof up to 3000m.
The Breitling Chronomat has remained true to its design for years. She is an icon among the aviation watches and has a strong recognition value due to its distinctive design.
